A Big Thanks for the Little Things
Victoria Gwilt, LCMHCA
According to the stores (and the holiday decor that appears earlier every year) Christmas season seems to start before Halloween is even over. It’s so easy to get swept up in the decorating, shopping, and busyness that we forget there’s a holiday tucked right in the middle.
Ian and I have been at CLT for a little over a year now, and in the spirit of Thanksgiving, it felt right to slow down and reflect on how truly grateful we are. Here are just a few things I’m thankful for since starting CLT:
Freedom
I’ve talked before about the fear that comes with changing careers. Starting something new brings a lot of uncertainty - but on the other side of that uncertainty, there’s a sense of freedom. Not just freedom in my schedule, but freedom in the ownership of my work. And while I deeply appreciate the flexibility, the best part has been offering individualized support to youth and families in a way that feels meaningful and aligned.
Community
Since launching CLT, I’ve had the privilege of meeting so many wonderful clinicians and making genuine new friends. Becoming part of this network has been such a gift. Charlotte is full of compassionate, thoughtful mental health professionals, and it’s been a joy to learn from and collaborate with them.
Clients
Last, and certainly not least, I’m incredibly grateful for our clients — those who have invited us into their lives with openness and trust. Therapy isn’t always easy, and it’s an honor to be part of someone’s healing journey.
